In Madrid.
We seem to have arrived during a giant Labor protest. Puerta del Sol was full of thousands of people last night when we went to go get dinner. The hostel is pretty close to both the Prado and the Reina Sofia museums, as well as an observatory and a rather large botanical garden.
As for the hostel, it’s not as nice as the other ones we’ve stayed in but the location is pretty good. The rooms are really cramped and poor Mallory is on a bottom bunk and keeps hitting her head on the bed above her. Breakfast is free from 8-10, and we got up at 8 this morning thinking it would be peaceful and quiet because Spaniards don’t seem to wake up before 10, but we came down and there were a bunch of loud South American guys who were still drunk and hadn’t gone to sleep yet. Some of them are still down here, actually. We also met a nice kid, David, from Olympia. He just did a year at Evergreen and is thinking about transferring to either UW, UO or WWU (2/3… woo!)
Anyway, the world’s biggest flea market is today in Plaza Mayor, so we’re going to hit that up before the game tonight (which doesn’t start until 9:30, good grief…). I’ll let you know if I get mugged.
