the looking glass
23, girl, in love with love, but not in love. Living in Oregon, dreaming of L.A or somewhere in the South.

We took a (rather large) bus to Sevilla this afternoon. The ride would have been nice had I not been so concerned for my life due to our driver’s lack of caution. At one point the bus was in three lanes (borderline four).

When we got here we walked along the river towards the old historic city center, which is just phenomenal. I immediately liked the vibe here more than the one I get in Malaga. There is more culture and while it has more tourists (there are so many Americans here! We’re in a room here with a girl from Alabama, she’s really nice.), it is so much more inviting. It might have something to do with the fact that we are a two minute walk from the largest cathedral in the world (The two that are bigger, St. Peter’s in Rome and St. Paul’s in London, are technically basilicas). There’s also an old castle (10th Century!) just right in the middle of the city.

There’s a pleasant mix of modernity and history. They have a pretty efficient looking light rail system that goes through the heart of the city - it rolls alongside the afore mentioned cathedral. I think I was also excited because they have Starbucks here! I’ve seen three already. I know, I know… so American. Whatever. The fact that the cathedral and the old palace sit among shops like Mango and Häagen-Dazs is really cool to me, because it doesn’t look odd, and nobody really stops to think about it.

Tomorrow we’re going to take a tour of the cathedral and the old Palace (it’s called Alcazar) which supposedly has a pretty beautiful garden inside it’s walls now. Our bus back to Malaga doesn’t leave until 8, so we’ve got all day.

Life is so great.
